Thought I’d update you all on how we’re doing! It’s been a while, but we’re still going strong and we still have our eyes on those wedding bells. I’ve started my journey to becoming a wedding planner and he’s pursuing a career in business, as well. We’re really just enjoying being together and trying to get through college. It’s a quiet adventure, but it’s our adventure and I wouldn’t trade it for the world.

It’s our song. During the first car ride we ever had alone together, we listened to Journey the whole time. When he got in, “Faithfully” was playing, but “Open Arms” by them is the song that really talks about the first year of our relationship.
——-
Lying beside you here in the dark
Feeling your heart beat with mine
Softly you whisper, you’re so sincere
How could our love be so blind?
We sailed on together
We drifted apart
And here you are by my side
So now I come to you with open arms
Nothing to hide, believe what I say
So here I am with open arms
Hoping you’ll see what your love means to me, open arms
Living without you, living alone
This empty house seems so cold
Wanting to hold you, wanting you near
How much I wanted you home
But now that you’ve come back
Turned night into day
I need you to stay
So now I come to you with open arms
Nothing to hide, believe what I say
So here I am with open arms
Hoping you’ll see what your love means to me, open arms

Picture this. At the head table for the reception, the bridesmaids place their bouquets in mugs that spell out “Meyer” for our last name—sitting on each bridesmaid’s favorite books. On the other side, in front of the each groomsmen, there are model cars driving towards the bride and groom. While in the center there is a bigger car with book flowers sticking out of the trunk and “Mr. & Mrs.” written on the side with two bride and groom rubber duckies sitting in the front seats. As for the rest of the tables, the centerpieces are split between model cars sitting on stands and book flowers in vases. All centerpieces surrounded by bride and groom ducks for people to take home.

Little kiddish, right? Well, this is what we’ve got for now because he loves cars and I love books and ducks. So if we were to hold it now, we’d have all of the above, but we’ll see in a few years when it actually happens. (I’m all for it though!)
Love,
—Ms. Sarah Marie
I’m not too much of a “camo” fan, but he loves it and I had to figure out something to incorporate it into the wedding soo we’ve gone with the Camo Garter and Camo ribbon for his “boot in ear.” When we decide on the color, we’ll get the ribbon accordingly. :)
“For the first time in my life I’m not worried about the future
Because we have such a wonderful time when we’re together
However things turn out, it’s all right
Cause he’s already changed my life” -India.Arie (He Heals Me)
3rd prelim. bridesmaid dress. She’s sitting on a hedge…weird, but I like the dress and color. We still have a few years for the wedding and so we’re allowed to pick different colors!

2nd prelim. bridesmaid dress. I love the idea of having matching colored dress with a belt, but it’s only an idea as of right now.

We’re going through our preliminary bridesmaid dresses right now and here is the first of many choices. It would be a different color, but this shape is beautiful.

We first met when we were both 5 years old in kindergarten—back when boys had cooties! For many years of our lives, we really didn’t know each other besides “that boy” or “that girl,” and when you’re so young, ‘friend’ means “that person you can play on the jungle gym with.” So the real story starts when in our senior year of high school when we had Stats together and, by the end of the year, homeroom and first period, too. It wasn’t until the middle of the school year, while I was driving my sister and her boyfriend home from a friend’s house, when I realized he was showing an interest in me…and I kinda liked the idea of it, too! A few months went by and we stayed just friends until after we graduated when we went on our first few dates.
Our first date was at Beto’s Pizza—a place his dad and him would go all the time together. I had never been there before but I love pizza so I said, “Sure, why not!?” Well, he didn’t feel the need to mention how sloppy the pizza was, and I made a fool of myself on the first date! Warning would have been nice…but I guess he didn’t mind because we’re still together to this day. (Thank goodness!) A few days later on a Sunday, we were brand new high school graduates and we went to see Pirates of the Caribbean 4 with his best friend, Luke—holding hands in secret. It was a quick night but we reconvened the next night with my sister and her boyfriend to go see the same movie paired with X-Men: First Class at the drive-in. We were inches away the entire time and for once, I didn’t feel like a third wheel again! Then on Wednesday, we had our first date alone. I’ve heard it’s not smart to make a meal for your date on the first time out alone, but I did it anyways and it went well. Of course, he’s a “meat-a-tarian” and I’m a vegetarian, so I struggled a little with what to make him. I went through making pasta, sandwiches, pizza, but I couldn’t figure it out. So I just went with something simple, Tri-colored Pasta Salad, hoagies and pistachio pudding. To this day, the only thing he didn’t like was the Miracle Whip on the hoagies. Whew! I think I’ll be able to keep him alive and happy with my cooking for the years to come.
The date didn’t end there though, we stayed with each other for the entire day from 1 to 1! Lunch at the park turned into driving my sister and her boyfriend to the doctor’s office, then we dropped them off to go to Peppi’s for dinner—our Pittsburgh place. After dinner, we went to hang out with Luke some and, of course, to save some gas in the little PT Cruiser. Luke drove us around from 7 PM to 1 AM, talking and laughing all across the county. Sadly, the night had to end and I had to be dropped off before the 1 o’clock curfew happened. We texted until 4 AM and made it official. Since then, June 8th, 2011, he and I have dedicated ourselves to an unconditional love that hasn’t seemed to fail us even through some of the toughest times. I love him and he loves me. Mike and Sarah. Sarah and Mike. Through and through, he’s been there for me and I know I’ll be there for him when he needs me as well.
With love,
—Ms. Sarah Marie
